Arsenal are preparing for life next season knowing that Champions League qualification is very unlikely but according to Spanish outlet Libertad Digital they are ready to make a move for Thomas Partey.
The Atletico Madrid player reportedly has a transfer release clause of €50m [£42m] and could help to improve a position that Arsenal have struggled in a little this season.
Mikel Arteta has experimented with his midfield selection since taking over, recently recalling Dani Ceballos into the side to occupy a deeper position alongside Granit Xhaka, while dropping Matteo Guendouzi.

Partey has good experience with 179 La Liga and Champions League games to his name, and fans are certainly excited by the report that the Gunners are interested.
A big reason for that is some feel the Ghana international could be the player to take the club to the next level – back into Europe’s most prestigious competition.
The thought of a battling midfielder likely excites supporters as the North London outfit have lacked a player of that ilk for some time, with Partey managing 2.5 tackles and 1.4 interceptions per game this season, per WhoScored.
It will be interesting to see if the 26-year-old is willing to make the move away from a club playing Champions League football to one without, and his arrival would certainly be a sign of confidence in the project Arteta is building.
The Spaniard will be hopeful of transforming a midfield that has simply been too weak this season, as it has failed to provide protection for a defence which has relied on Bernd Leno to make 98 saves the season, the second-highest amount in the league.
As such, fans have been commenting on the current midfield, alluding to the difference Partey could make if he joined.
