Arsenal sign FoxFox will offer versatilityMay unlock McCabe's attacking threatWHAT HAPPENED?
Arsenal completed the signing of Fox on Thursday to add strength and depth to their defence as they aim to kickstart their season in the new year. Fox comes in as a direct replacement at full-back for Noelle Maritz, who departed on a permanent deal to Aston Villa last weekend. Eidevall credited his new signing's versatility as a key reason for why they sought her so desperately. The Swedish coach possesses a number of versatile players in his ranks and is not afraid of playing his them in a multitude of different positions.

Fox is capable of playing across the defensive line, but will likely slot in at right-back where the Gunners have been short. Fox's arrival should allow Eidevall to reshuffle his defensive pack in a move which will help better utilise the strengths of star player, Katie McCabe. The Ireland captain had been deployed unnaturally on the right-side of defence by Eidevall for large portions of this season, but Fox's arrival will enable McCabe to return to marauding up and down the left flank.
WHAT EIDEVALL SAID
Speaking to, Eidevall was full of praise for Fox. He said: “It's very easy to become static in the way that you play if your full-backs can only be wide. That puts a lot of limitations on the way that you can position and the way that you can allow your midfielders to move, so in order for us to try and create as much fluidity as possible in attack, having full-backs that are able to play both wide and on the inside is a fundamental part of that.
"I think we have three natural full-backs here now and each one can do that a little bit in their own ways. Steph [Catley], Katie [McCabe] and Emily [Fox] are comfortable doing that so I think that's a very good situation for us."
